Yakima Athletic Club

Eric called the meeting to order at 7:00 P.M. Members present: Eric Anderson, Larry McCaw, Tony Sagare, Bill and Virginia Nicholson, Kenn Zahn, Frank and Pam Covelli, Jack and Janis Carlton and guest Gailon Gentry.

Gailon was present to fill us in on the Tampico Run. He had to leave early so that was discussed first. The minutes of the last meeting were then approved.

Treasurer’s report: Tony said there was not much activity. We had some expenses for the fun runs, and postage for the newsletter. Income came from a couple of clock rentals and a few Sun City entries. We had a net gain for the month of about $111.00.

Membership: One member was dropped. Total membership stands at 194. As a reminder the time to renew for all members is November 1^st 2004. Check that mailbox for your reminder post card of the annual awards, election and pot luck.

Newsletter: Frank is working on it. Running reminders will be sent out soon. The web site has been updated.

Fun Runs: They are scheduled through the Turkey Trot in Nov. Sept. 19^th we go back to the Sunday, 1:30 P.M. runs. Check your calendar.

New Business: Equipment training has been rescheduled to Thursday September 16^th at Franklin Park, 5:30P.M. by the gazebo.

Kenn put forth that we are in serious need of replacing our clock stand. It was also pointed out that the new set-up should prominently display our club logo. Kenn volunteered to start the process.

In mid July 2005, Yakima will host the Washington State Olympic Games. Tom Kelleher would like to see a 5k evening run, ending at Zaefel (SP) Stadium, to kick off the event. It was discussed that we would be interested in helping with the race. Also there may be a torch run from Olympia.

Sun City preparation is going on. Contact Lorrie Smith if you can help out.

We are going to help out with the Lewis and Clark Middle School race Sept. 21^st.
