( The 2500th anniversary of the battle of Marathon in 490 BC and the legendary run by Pheidippides from the Marathon Battlefield to the city of Athens. )
Here are a couple pictures I had people take during the marathon.
With children, early in the race, about 10 miles.
The second was about 22 miles while entering Athens.
Here's a picture after the marathon before leaving the stadium. Pam
is
helping me recover.
And finally a photo of me with Amby Burfoot from Runners World Magazine.
Just to let you know that the Athens Classic Marathon is a great
event, even though it is one of the toughest marathon courses I have
ever run. I finished the marathon with a time of 3:55:02.
Pam ran/ walked the 5K run on the same day in a time of 48:48. It was a nice sunny day with temperature in the mid 60's and light wind.
While I was in a portapotty line I looked at the next line over and discovered a young man wearing a Hard Core Runners Shirt. I can't remember his name or I would report to you who it is. Eric Knows him and can identify.

The next photo is of Pam and me at the Panathinaiko Stadium the day
after the race. This is the granite stadium built for the 1896 Olympic
games and was the finish of the marathon races in the Olympic games
in
2004.
